Hiking In The Philippians
Spent some time in the Philippians recently and went on a amazingly tiring and enjoyful hike. I could barely get these notes down I was so tired.
We've been walking for 2 hours and have passed a serene area where we took a picture of the big trees surrounding that side of the mountain. In retrospect, its that kind of scene that vividly show how small we can be compared to the wonders nature has to offer. Looking up and down in wonderment and awe I spy the biggest lizard I've ever seen only to be laughed at cozy it was a species of Gecko bright orange and brown in color.
We're still on our way up to the top hoping against hope that we come across the wild flora discovered here, Raffesia Mira. They say it looks like the Corpse flower but definitely doesn't have the smell. This species of flower is said to be rarest of rare and its survival is because of its sensitivity to its surroundings. They depend mostly on the proper mix of pollination, water and nutrients. The female Raffesia is bound to die if a suitable environment is not available. Makes me wonder if technology had a hand in making these flora wither to extinction?
I am hoping this steep incline (50° I' guessing) we've chosen brings us there…it would make the aching of my ankles well worth it!
