Going Lunar

Once again the moon is taking a bad rap for what may seem an exaggerated rise on pets going loco during full moon. Emergency room cases document animal bites and tetanus shots for scratches every mid-phase of the lunar cycle.

Countries like the US and Britain have a relatively mysterious turn-out of pet dogs and cats going lunar on a full moon evening.  The theory that the moons phase causes behavioral changes in humans and in pet animals as well.

Though the studies are still inconclusive, related data shows a 23% in cat and 28% in dog aggressiveness in the USA. A university study has tally sheets of data but hasn't made any scientific connections with behavior and the moon.

Superstition is making this theory a fact in Europe since pet aggressiveness and ailments are at a high on nights of the full moon. Sold to the "lunatic" behavior of animals at these times, they are spooked by fact that the warm-up of the dog and cat canine teeth happen days before the full moon.

In contrast, Australia has never had a remarkable full moon documentation of pet lunacy during full moon. They attribute it Australia's fine weather year round that not too many people are anxious to be up and about on full moon nights. If there were uncanny occurrences in the land Down Under, it would be the days that report all time highs. On New Year's Day would be the most likely time bites, scratches and sickness are attended to at the clinic. Slightly bothered, Australians find that Sunday is the likely day for an accident while Wednesday is said to be the safest day.

Torn between scientific theories and actual occurrences sway pet owners into being too paranoid during full moon. Keeping tabs on your pet's general appearance and health during this time would most likely settle if it true by you or not.
